I would also like to point out that there are thousands of wonderful, friendly, caring dogs at shelters that need a good home. You would be surprised at what others have discarded. A friend of mine just found a pit mix mutt (very common in shelters) that is around one year old and he is the most loving, calm, sweet little guy. He has more confidence than you could fit in a dump truck. He is going to be a wonderful dog for them. The best part is they wanted a dog like him and he needed a home and now they are all happy. The adoption fee for him was $90. He is up to date on shots, neutered and in healthy condition. I can not find a single temperamental or emotional flaw in this dog. He is house broke and is great with other animals and loves kids. Save a life and get a great dog. There are many animals at shelters including but not limited to cats, ferrets, horses and so on.
I will say that adoption dogs can have there problems and if you are planning on adopting a dog have a knowledgeable person help you pick your new member of the family. Do not rely on the people at the shelter to know the dogs very well or know much about animal temperament.
