We have had some major storms due to the hurricane off the coast and inland fronts. I have gotten 2 inches of rain a day on my rain gauge. Yikes!! Not complaining tho as everything is growing madly and its better than the hot sun all the time. We have had a horrid summer with heat. Climate is changing. It has been a different routine for the dogs as they are not left out in the high temps. It has caused a problem with shipping the last pup. He will be leaving in a couple of weeks or less on the van. The airlines were horrid. If anyone ever needs a van service let me know as I have the information and will be glad to share.
I mentioned a new kelp company for animals and will be happy to share that also. The sulfur seems to be working well and that too is an option if anyone needs it.
I have been working hard for a time on establishing a rapport with local farmers. It has taken a long time but I have now brought to fruition two major connections. I am part owner of a goat and now have goats milk available all the time. I also have recently come upon a farmer (Rocking H Farm) who takes great pride in raising Red Devon cattle and I now have a pastured beef connection. All are chemically free pastured animals including the chickens.
I report this as I feel it is important to connect with your local people if you can and patronize them instead of buying the crap that is in the supermarkets. You are getting irridiated meats which have no nutritional value and are high dollar. You can grow veggies in pots if you have no land to speak of.
I shop once a month in a store and buy less and less each time as I have gone very "green". I use only vinegar and bleach for cleaning so there is no need for those products. I sew and make lots of stuff right down to my potholders from scraps. I knit and make lots of stuff.
I share this as I too have to conserve like you. I worked for years but always used my extra time to learn to do things and grow things. I stay away from gimmicks and have taught myself to make things work at less cost. Time management is the key. I learned that when I was working.
My days are filled with great satisfaction and reward. I convey this to others as almost anyone can do it if they choose. It is called simplicity, stop and smell the flowers and get off the freeway. It is important to have confort and nice things. It is important to live well. If we stop looking to others for satisfaction we will find it in ourselves. I do all of the above. I have learned to like me.
