Posted by Eric Sazerac Crushed ice Chill an old-fashioned glass by filling with crushed ice or refrigerate or freeze for at least 30 minutes. Add the Herbsaint, absinthe, or Pernod to the glass; swirl it around to coat the entire sides and bottom of the glass. Discard the excess. In a cocktail shaker, add 4 or 5 small ice cubes, sugar, rye whiskey, and bitters. Shake gently for about 30 seconds; strain into the prepared old-fashioned glass. Twist lemon peel over the drink and then place in the drink. 3 parts whiskey (Crown Royal or Tennessee whiskey) 1-1/2 oz. Maker's Mark Wolf Whistle 1 12 oz. can frozen lemonade concentrate Blend all ingredients in blender at low speed for 10 seconds, then at high speed for 30 seconds. Serve over ice. (If pre-made, blend for 20 seconds before serving).

Bourbon and Rye: Don’t be afraid of the brown liquor
1 teaspoon absinthe, Pernod, or Herbsaint liqueur
Ice cubes
1 teaspoon sugar, 1 sugar cube, or 1 teaspoon simple syrup
1 ½ ounces rye whiskey
3 dashed Peychaud’s Bitters
1 lemon peel twist
Washington/Tennessee Apple
2 parts Calvados (French brandy distilled from apple cider) or Apple Pucker
1 part apple-cranberry juice
1 part soda water
Old-Fashioned
1/2 oz. club soda
1 orange slice
1 maraschino cherry
1 teaspoon sugar
Muddle 1 orange slice, 1 maraschino cherry, and a teaspoon of sugar in an Old Fashioned glass. Fill glass 3/4 full with ice. Add 1-1/2 oz. Maker's Mark and a splash of club soda. Garnish with additional orange slice and maraschino cherry.
1 12 oz. can frozen orange juice concentrate,
prepared
18 oz. bourbon (scotch or blended whiskey can
be substituted)
