Waking up I found that Mallory had a "Wicked" migrane and sinus issues. So I let her sleep in and went out to find something to eat.
I decided to go to the Roxy Deli. Even though I had eaten here before, I felt that I needed to get a true deli sandwich and this was nearby. Now I have to warn you that the Roxy isnt your typical cheap sandwich shop. In fact my cornbeef on rye was $14 but you get pounds of sandwich and some unusual pickles that is easily shared by 2 people if you want. After struggling to eat that, I found that Mallory was still ill so I grabbed a cigar and treked 10 blocks or so to central park. This was a great choice! I started my stroll on Central Park South/59 Street and just walked. There are countless playgrounds for the kids that have fun spray fountains to cool everyone off. People were everywhere in part cause it was a holiday weekend. I made my way down the MALL and looked at all the literary statues and listened to the musicians playing. This lead me to the Bethesda fountain which is a beautiful area that overlooks the LAKE. Here, I finished my cigar and watched people rowing boats on the Lake. From there, I meandered to the Alice in Wonderland sculpture and made my way to the great lawn. This area was packed with thousands of people playing frisbee, flying kites, riding bikes and just hanging out. Overlooking the Great Lawn is the Belvedere Castle which is a castle like building in the middle of the park. Then after wandering aimlessly cause I got disoriented in an area known as the Ramble, I headed back.
Mallory was feeling a bit better so we walked down to time square again and just soaked in the sights. Then we found a place called John's Pizzeria. This was a great place to get our New York Style Pizza and a Brooklyn Lager. John's is neat in that this location was once a church and had a really cool mural on the wall of New York. Plus the pizza is really good. ( http://www.johnspizzerianyc.com/index2.htm )
Then we strolled around time square and headed back home.
