The day before the wedding, Mallory & I drove up the beautiful Pacific Coast Hwy to meet up with my friend Keith. It was a beautiful day and the drive was wonderful.
We met Keith up in Huntington Beach at the Fred's Mexican Cafe. This was a great socal chain restaurant to check out cause it has great happy hour prices and the one in Huntington Beach overlooks the beaches. ( http://www.mooserestaurantgroup.com/fred/branch2/index.html )
From there Keith took us to a small community within Long Beach called Naples where we found ourselves a small cigar lounge called Big Daddy's and smoked some cigars. ( http://www.bigdaddyscigars.com/ )
After checking out Keith's nice apartment in the old area of Long Beach, we made our way out to a cool seafood/sushi restaurant in Seal Beach called Mahe'. Mahe' is what you would expect a california sushi restaurant to be. It was really good food but the place was packed with pretty people, lots of drinks, and loud music. It has a kicking bar attached to it that makes it a pretty kicking joint on weekend nights. They have some cool sushi rolls called Bombs which is either Tuna or salmon stuffed with Crab and Avacado and then baked and covered in a tasty Ponsu sauce. It was fun. ( http://www.eatatmahe.com/ ).
The next morning Keith drove us to 2nd Street which is a neat main street in classic Long Beach. Here he took us to a really cool breakfast restaurant called La Creperie Cafe. I had the Southwest Breakfast Crepe and it was great. ( http://www.lacreperiecafe.net/ )
Overall, Long Beach and the surrounding areas were very suprising to me in that I expected a bit more of a dirtier, Los Angeles mess, overflowed into the area. I was happily suprised.
