Alabai and rabies vaccination prior to the age of 1year..

Is there any reason NOT to give a Alabai puppy that is 4 months old a rabies vaccination? We have been informed it could stunt her growth to give her the rabies vaccine before she is one year old. We live in the country and fear the puppy could come in contact with raccoons and skunks and other wild, warm blooded animals. Does this breed have a predisposition to allergies to the vaccine? There are around 14 or 15 different vaccines to choose from. Would one be more advisable to use on this breed than another? Our vet is not familiar with this breed and is concerned for the health of this animal and the family. We have just become aware of the Alabai when searching for a guard dog for our place and our livestock. We are very happy with this puppy and want to do what is best for her. As of now we are confining her in a large cage at night, letting her loose in our fenced yard during the day when we are at home and taking her for long walk-runs, (for a mile or more) once or twice a day. Our other guard dog, a mixed breed, kills every wild animal that comes into the yard and he is loose in the yard all of the time and is of course, vaccinated against rabies. About a year ago he killed a rabid skunk, (we sent the dead skunk to be tested and it came back positive) he was quarantined and given a rabies booster and is fine. So there is a real danger of rabies in this area.
