Yes, Angel was definitely flying in bright company with the Galileo award recipients. My recording of Swan Lake - the score in original order, not as the ballet is currently performed - is BSO w/Ozawa. The tempos are wicked fast, just because they can!
So, for Galileo there is "Epimetheus," the dancers moving as the celestial bodies Galileo invented his telescope to view.
For Michelangelo, the dancers themselves. What sculptor would not find joy in the lines of a dancer's body?
For all of us there was that "Ave Maria," the artists' gifts from heaven offered back in that sacred space, becoming a blessing for all.
In some traditions, All Hallows is the turn of the New Year - so here's to the coming seasons, and the light these artists will bring to our shadowed world.
