After a whirlwind 9 months, at the point where most bands have been tinkering around and are about to be born, Crabs on Banjo is preparing for its final show on Wednesday, February 25 at midnight during the Fortified Winter Antifolk Festival. 40-plus shows, over 200 original songs, most of them recorded, have allowed us to complete a debut CD (FUKC TITLES) and now a sophomore effort that will be released on the 25th. It's looking like the second/final record will be double, featuring contributions from primary band members Brian Speaker, Ben Krieger, Ariel Bitran and Brook Pridemore, as well as appearances by a myriad of characters.
There will be no regular CoB shows between now and our final show.
CoB is decided not to perform at an earlier time; the Sidewalk Cafe is an all ages venue and every effort must be made to separate our adult fans from the boys and girls with curfews.
In the beginning, Crabs on Banjo was almost a joke. Honestly, we didn't plan on becoming the greatest band in New York...it just kind of happened. Our heart goes out to all the bands and songwriters out there who actually work at their material but can't come up with anything as good as the stuff we make up on the spot. Keep trying.
So...see you on Wednesday February 25th. Midnight.
Details on the new double CD will be posted on the boards soon.
