A special message to you from Lach:
OK, I mean, this is easily one of the most amazing nights we've ever put together. Dig, I'll be performing "The Day I Went Insane"; the one man show that I'm bringing to the Edinburgh Fringe Fest this Summer. You can save yrself a round-trip plane to the UK and just hit the show on this night! You'll hear the stories behind my songs Kiss Loves You, Drinking Beers With Mom and more!
Tthe rest of the bill is just plain mind-blowing. Each of these acts is worth the price of admission alone and your getting them all for a mere five bucks! On top of that we're selling Pabst beers and whiskey shots for a ridiculous $3 each! Not enough? OK, how's this, your third drink is free!
Now, how can we afford to bring all of this goodness to you for so cheap? The honest truth is we can't! But we are anyway! Why? Because we truly believe that once you've experienced the awesomeness of a night out in The Marlin Room at Webster Hall you will be coming back for more and bringing your friends. And that's what we want to happen, and we see the ridiculously low prices of these early weeks as a worthwhile investment on our part to grow what will be the coolest hang-out of the coming summer. You are our buzz-makers and we respect that!
So, come on out to our show this Wednesday and to the Antihoots on Tuesdays while the prices are so low and the talent level so high. Its literally history in the making and we want you and your friends to be a part of it!
11-Da Skufz- Hillary Flowers fronts this group that seem like they came out of a 1920's speakeasy drawn by Tex Avery. Da Skufz also feature Luigi Babe on guitar and Washboard Bob on, well, washboard; as well as a tag-along group of strippers, card players, saxophonists and other assorted riff-raff. Not to be missed! Da Skufz were the first act to be asked back to Lach Presents at The Marlin Room because they were just that good!
10- Lach in 'The Day I Went Insane' – Lach will be headlining the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August and tonight will be previewing the one-man show he will be bringing there. "Think battered acoustic thrashings, think sarky, smart-mouthed wit and wisdom but most importantly think Lach. Lach is rarely less than a face-ache funny, beat-punk-unplugged joy, and likely to send you home with several favourite new songs"- The Guardian UK
9- Hamell on Trial – Hamell on Trial is a one-man punk band—and by punk we mean (mostly) loud, fast music informed by politics, passion, energy and intelligence, played by a guy with a sharp tongue and a wicked sense of humor. Signed to Ani Difranco's Righteous Babe Records, Hamell is a tornado in concert and not to be missed.
"Lenny Bruce meets the Ramones"- Austin Chronicle
8-Toby Goodshank – The soft-spoken, enigmatic Goodshank made his high-profile debut playing acoustic guitar in The Moldy Peaches (Rough Trade Records, now featured on the Juno Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Rhino Records, #1 album on the Billboard Top 200). Once that band began its indefinite hiatus, Goodshank kicked his solo career into overdrive, pumping out albums and touring Europe twice with the likes of Jeffrey Lewis (Rough Trade) and fellow Moldy Peach Kimya Dawson (K Records). In a relatively short amount of time, Toby Goodshank has become a crucial voice in the underground NYC music scene.
7:30- Barry Bliss – Barry Bliss is a 44 year old singer/songwriter that lives in NYC. He has opened for such acts as Diane Cluck, Jeff Lewis and The Moldy Peaches, all at their request. He was also included on Rough Trade's Antifolk Vol. 1 compilation CD.
Every Tuesday - Lach's Antihoot at Webster Hall. NYC's longest running, most infamous, open stage.
