Your great-grandpa went by Hallie M. Main. He was born 25 Dec 1892 in Appomattox, VA according to at least 3 sources I found.
On his World War 1 Card he registered in Minot, North Dakota 5 Jun 1917. He was single and age 26. His address was 31 First Street in Minot, ND.
He stated he was born in Appomattox, VA 25 Dec 1892. He had black eyes, black hair, not bald, and no disabilites. He was medium height, slender build. His occupation was Electrician with the G.N. Ry. Co. in Minot, ND. At the bottom of the card it was written: "Person registered is in pest house quaranteened on account of small pox."
I found under "North Dakota Military Men": Hallie M. Main was born in Appomattox, VA 25 Dec 1892. His occupation was electrician. He was inducted at Minot on 18 Sep 1917, sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa; served in Battery A. 338th Field Artillery to discharge. Discharged at Camp Dodge, IA 19 Dec 1917 as a Private by reason of physical disability.
Under Salt Lake City Cemetery Information Hallie M. Main was born 25 Dec 1892 and died 17 Aug 1979. He is buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North Street in Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.
Directions: East on North Temple to 950 East (N. St) North to 4th Avenue.
I found under Social Security Death Index:
Hallie Main b. 25 Dec 1892 d. Aug 1979. His last residence was Salt Lake City, Utah. His Social Security Number was 529-05-0915.
If I were you I would write to the cemetery for further information and also write for an obituary on him. Good Luck! Hope this helps.
