Dear Debra,
you don't know me yet, as I couldn't get online for quite a while. I believe our children can see us at least some of the time. I had quite a battle with that same question. The closest I could get to a satisfying answer was that Lazarus asked Abraham to send someone to his brothers, so they must have been able to see his brothers at least some of the time. There is another scripture reference too, I will try to find it and post it.
