Debra,
I agree with Tracey. Throw that tape in the dustbin. On the cross Jesus said to the sinner next to Him "today you will be in paradise with me". Forgive my loose translation. But He didn't say "in a few thousand years, you'll be with Me in paradise".
This is how I see it: our bodies die, our spirits are immediately with the Lord. We stay in heaven. When the rapture happens we are joined with our friends and family in heaven. This is probably when we (those who died before the rapture) will receive glorified bodies as well. After the 7 years of tribulation (on earth) everybody in heaven will come down to earth and will live and rule on earth with the Lord.
I hope that make some sense. We won't know all the answers about heaven while we are still alive on earth, but I am sure it is wonderful, because Jesus said so.
You know, the times I am overcome with fear, the only thing that really settles me is to read Isaiah or the psalms. Medication sorts it for a little while, but doesn't get you anywhere in the long run.
Take your Bible, get some verses, write them out and hang on to it. I have tried reading every book about heaven I can get my hands on. A lot of them are plain rubbish, some have very questionable assumptions like: everybody in heaven is 33 years old. Excuse me, my child older than me? I don't think so, besides, I haven't found any scriptural back up for that. Listen to other tapes if you want to, but test everything against the Word. And not just against 1 verse that has been taken out of context. The book about heaven by Randy Alcorn is worth a read. It is a bit thick, so you need some patience, but it is good.
A few years ago I was in a very bad spot in my life. Somebody gave me the words of this song:
You don't have to know how to pray,
All you have to know how to say is Jesus, Jesus
In a shouted voice or a whispered tone
In a crowded room or when you are all alone
Jesus, Jesus.
Hang on to the Lord Debra, with Him, you are never alone.
(((Hugs)))
