Oh Jan, I can feel your heavy heartedness. Piece by piece letting go when not wanting to. I pray the Lord will lift you up into His arms and soothe the pain and erase the nightmares. MAy He replace your nightmares with dreams of delight. Someday the soothing will be permanent.
It never ceases to amaze me, how deep the pain is in our hearts, sometimes it doesn't rear it's head for days, and then suddenly it's fresh as day one.
How is your recovery from the surgery going?
