I received a request from a researcher out of Amsterdam to ask you ladies to consider answering a survey as it relates to post traumatic stress you suffered with the loss of your child. Feel free to email him (to verify this is a legitimate study), to participate or not, as you choose. -- jan

The University of Amsterdam, department of Clinical Psychology, is conducting an online study about the effect of a traumatic experience on a person’s basic assumptions about the world. The supervisor of this project is assistant professor Dr. Thomas Ehring, who is specialized in Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. The link to his homepage is: http://home.medewerker.uva.nl/t.w.a.ehring/.
We hope to reach members of your website by placing a post on your forum, asking members if they would like participate.
Goal of the Study
Prior research has found that a traumatic experience can have a profound impact on an individual’s world view. After a trauma, the world may be regarded as dangerous and unpredictable, and people may be seen as untrustworthy. These changes in a person’s appraisals of their world seem to be related to the development of post traumatic stress disorder. It is therefore important to understand how basic assumptions can change after a trauma, and what the effect of these changes are, so that therapy may be adjusted accordingly.
What does participation involve?
Participating in the study involves filling in an online questionnaire. This questionnaire will take about 15 minutes to complete. All data will be collected anonymously, participants will not be asked to give their name. Participants may stop at any time and delete their data. Questions in the study do not ask details about the traumatic event, only about the way the event was coped with. The ethical commission of the University of Amsterdam, department of Psychology, has approved this study. There is an English version, as well as a Dutch version of the questionnaire. The links are:

Who can participate?
Anyone who is 18 years or older and has had a traumatic experience sometime in their life.
We hope you are willing to help with this important study. As a token of our appreciation, we will of course be happy to inform you about the results of this study. Your website will also be cited as a reference in the article. We would like to thank you for your attention. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any additional information.
