On the Clothesline.....

I would imagine that this has been asked before, but I can't recall if I've ever seen any mention of it. In the final chorus of the wonderful 'Born at the Right Time' Billy sings 'Now I'm Sleeping on the Clothesline...' I'd just like to ask if there was a story behind this - or was it just a moment of silliness that seemed to work? Mick
