Posted by Becky--Cajun Pride Kennel on 7/12/2006, 9:52 pm, in reply to "Let's all get acquainted" I was raised as a child with Pit Bulls, so I just tell everyone they are in my blood, LOL. I started looking at everyone's web sites from the moment I got the internet in 2000. I was mainly looking for blue pit bulls in the beginning just to start breeding dogs to make money. Blue brindle is actually my favorite color. Well, after I bred my first litter, I quickly learned that if you are going to be a truly good and ethical breeder, you won't make a profit. So as I was looking through web sites, I came across some that showed their dogs and decided I'd like to do it too. Well, I lived in Hawaii at the time I made this decision but there were no UKC shows there. So I had to wait a few more years until we came back home. In the meantime, I had 4 dogs that I couldn't show. And as I searched some more, I ended up with an Amstaff that was dual registered. And let me tell you, it was a big decision as I had my mind made up I didn't want to deal with AKC. But the more I looked, the more I kept going back to look at the Amstaffs. So I got my first show dog in 2003 and now I've been showing since Feb. 2004, when that dog turned 6 months. I show AKC and UKC. I now have 1 AKC Champion, 2 UKC Champions: 1 with 2 legs towards GRCH. Also have 3 other dogs who are pointed in AKC and UKC and 1 that is only pointed in AKC. I would like for all my dogs to be dual CHs. I know some UKC people look disgusted at the thought of an Amstaff coming to the shows, but I have looked around a lot, and still do from time to time, but I still like what I have better than what else I'm seeing out there. I'm not saying that true APBTs aren't good, I just haven't seen many that catch my eye. So, of course, to each his own and good luck with whatever you decide suits your fancy.
