Posted by Gerald Smith, UKC Judge#2785 on 7/17/2006, 4:40 pm There are many reasons why this can happen but consider this explaination for a moment When the human body becomes excited, scared or nervous, adrenaline is dumped into the blood stream. The only way the body can rid itself of this chemical is by way of your breath. Adrenaline is a powerful chemical and that chemical when expelled from you body via your breath can affect your dog’s behavior. Once the chemical leaves the body and the dog smells it they react as if they don't know who you are as sunddenly you have a different and very strange odor coming from you. Try using a mint or chewing gum if you have trouble controlling your excitement level. It can make a huge difference in how your dog acts. Anyone ever have this happen to them and not know why the dog they spent so many hours training suddenly can’t seem to remember any of that training?
