Canton officials propose repealing BSL
Changes proposed for city’s vicious dog orginance

"Canton officials recommended Tuesday two sections of the 20-year-old city ordinance on vicious dogs be repealed and more comprehensive revisions made later.... City Attorney Chrissie Peterson said ... Section 5 of the local ordinance, defining certain breeds as vicious dogs, should be repealed. Citations for violating that section of the ordinance will not be enforced, and anyone who has received such a citation will not have to appear in court.... Alderman Eric Schenck said ordinance Section 5 was unconstitutional due to a 2003 state statute limiting language on breed-specific municipal codes...."
