You make very good points but as far as the sponsor money is laid out on the tournament sheets and on the web site as structured towards each event. If the sponsor money goes toward other things then that should be told to the fisherman. They should make money for putting on a great event but how much is enough or how much is to little. That is the question?
: Ken, I realize I may be getting into
: something I have no business, but payback
: questions bother me, especially pertaining
: to this tournament series because I think it
: is run so well, and I realize my opinion
: don't mean much. If 9280 was paid into the
: tournament in entry fee's, and 9550 was paid
: out, then that's a difference of 270.00,
: which was PART of the sponsor money (and I'm
: a sponsor) donated to run / put on the
: tournaments. The trailer (and new
: computerized scales bought with sponsor
: money) was an expense purchased to give you
: guys a better "stage" and weigh in
: site than the one that had been
: "borrowed" over the past couple of
: seasons. T-shirts are another expense that
: was incurred and given back at the
: tournaments, so every fisherman that signs
: up in the beginning of the year gets
: something for participating. Sponsor money
: is also used to run the Castaway 1000, rolls
: over into the Classic, is used for the help
: for some of the people that put on the
: tournament, and helps for the Special
: Olympics tournament. 15th got 150.00, 16th
: got 100.00, and 17th thru 20th got 50.00.
: So no, 17th thru 20th didn't get their entry
: fee back, but they were awarded something
: for bettering 90 other teams. I've been a
: tournament director for a couple of
: different organizations over the past few
: years, and paying back money equally and
: fairly is a rarity, but it is something of
: concern in every tournament. But in this
: tournament series the sponsors help out in
: more than just paying back money to the guys
: that fish, they are aware of this, and most
: of the competitors are too. Most of the
: time, if I don't like seeing what's in print
: as far as a payback schedule, I don't fish
: that tournament. I'm not sure if this helps
: answer your question as to "how much of
: the sponsor money was paid back / brought
: in" but I do know that the Castaway
: Tournaments do a helluva lot more for the
: participants then ANY other locally run
: tournament in the area, and most of that has
: been due to maney raised by the people that
: put the tournament on and then it goes back
: into the tournament. They are always
: looking for help too. Interested???

: I do think you all should make some money
: for
: putting on the tournament but I was told
: that entry was not paid back 15-20th spots
: and those teams topped 100 other teams and
: did not get the entry fee back. Sorry but
: that just does not seem right. I still did
: not get an answer on how much sponsor money
: was broght in.

: You know in business there are expenses that
: are aquired in order in run a tournament.
: Thats is why you are informed of the payback
: before hand. You know what your are getting
: in advance for your $80.00.
