Arthur, Took the time to sleuth through some boxes of old literature. This may be of help:
First brochure is for the Mark 1 and Mark 2. Although it doesn't say "Hays" on there, I have other literature distinctly saying "Hays", for for these machines(no "E" in the name, by the way).
And the next brochure may clear up the partial mention of "Bellflower...." on your unit:
Apparently there was a dealer in the city of Bellflower. So that is a dealer's location, not a reference to a manufacturer?
