I have a super pro 2 hip mount and the black wire connects to one connection on the speaker and the other end of that wire connects to a ground terminal at the jack. The ground terminal is a larger separate ring type terminal.
In other words, the black wire on my unit is simply a ground wire used to ground one side of the speaker.
