Is that all it says on the box? Because Garret made many "TR discriminators". I had the Groundhog (circa 1977 to 1981-ish). But Garret had a a predecessor or two to the Groundhog, if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps one of them was simply called the "TR discriminator". If so, it was probably pretty similar to the disc. portion of the Groundhog.
It's going to be a dinasour by today's standards. Depth will be perhaps 6" if you really pushed it, and know what you're doing. Won't work well in mineralized soil, is a bear to keep balanced, etc... But for their time, they were one of the more popular smoother TR discriminators. Nice pleasant sound. Well built, etc....
