Happy Holidays all-
I'm taking a few minutes this morning to make all of you aware of SKYBUS Airlines based out of Columbus, Ohio.
First, I would like to point out that I'm not a highly demanding person. Only someone who expects to get the service they paid for. You don't have to go out of your way for me to please me, just provide a decent experience.
Now with that being said, here is a little about my experience with Skybus. On December 19th, I was departing San Diego coming into Columbus Ohio to see family for Christmas. I arrived at the airport in San Diego 2 hours before my flight. When I walked up, I knew something was up because it looked chaotic. A Skybus baggage handler approached me and asked me if I was checking in. After I said yes, he said the flight was cancelled and informed me there were no other flights.....through Chistmas. Once again, no more flights for over 7 days. When I asked what they planned on doing about that, and we all know that just about all airlines today will help you find another seat somewhere if they cancel your flight, all he said was that headquarters in Columbus said to refund your money. THAT WAS IT! So, with no time to waste and the feeling my Christmas was being compromised, I ran over to the next terminal to Southwest and got a bargain price ticket for $700 RT. What is more frustrating is not so much that I went from spending $420 RT to $700 RT, but when I emailed Skybus, since they don't have an 800# or any phone # for that matter, they responded to me without using my name or even saying sorry just once. All they did was copy and paste rules and regs from their website and say Happy Holidays and hope to see you again sometime. Once again, no apology or acknowlegement of the situation. They didn't even mention a refund. I had to dig around on the site to figure out how to do that.
I have also seen a string of cancellations recently with Skybus that are almost all due to "mechanical failures" as they stated. Infact, passengers departing Columbus, Ohio on Xmas eve and day were all left standing at the airport without flights due to cancellations regarding the same reasons. I have spoken with several friends and sources that all seem to state the same thing; If you fly SKYBUS you "might" get there. From what I can see, you are really risking your plans by flying with this company. I will never fly with them again...even if they offer me a free ticket.
Cheers,
Jason
