Ian,a local nursery was selling tiny seedlings for $90. They need more water than you think-half of his were dieing,from being underwatered. Whats interesting also is that in the off limits greenhouses at BBG they have much larger Welwitschias in a cool (at least in the morning)greenhouse that are a lush green to the very tip of their leaves.I think they stress the display plant to make it look more like a wild plant-and more like the picture alongside of it.
