To tell you the truth I am still trying to figure out the best way to grow Agave seeds - I've had lots of successes but some failures as well. I think a good soil mix for many species seems to be 1 part seed starting mix, 1 part sand 1 part pumice, but a few species prefer more peat and may be planted in straight seed starting mix. Indoors at room temperature works, but I have the best luck germinating them outdoors in the open on bottom heat in April-May or Sept. (just not the hottest part of summer). Definitely plant them in pots and barely cover the seed. This is important.... don't bury the seeds more than 1/8", more like 1/16" is idea. The pot could then be placed in a baggie - I haven't tried this yet; I would think it's not necessary but who knows, maybe it will help?
