Does anyone have any experience using systemic fungicides as a soil drench or spray on cacti ? I have some brown spots on several species of my cacti that have developed over this past year or so. They evidently are some type of air-borne fungal agent. All the plants are in perfectly good condition at soil level or below. The spots will suddenly appear at or near the top of the plant, being a dark brown color......often the disease will check itself & stop growing but the spot/spots still look unsightly. Spots range from the size of an M&M to size of a York Peppermint Patty. Problem only appeared recently. Seems to affect a wide range of species. The fact of appearing near the tops of plants, plus wide range of species, & NO ROT AT SOIL LEVEL OR BELOW seem to point to an airborne agent?! My theory was a systemic used as a soil drench several times yearly would build up immunity & prevent future problems. Went to the local garden store today....they carry 4 different brands/types..........none mentioned cacti. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!! Thanks in advance.
