Our winters are moderated by the Ocean....but cold fronts typically have a northwest wind direction which come from Canada.....not over the ocean...so we still get cold. I created a summary table of historical temps for Providence's weather station (which is located at the airport in Warwick, RI which is located about 11 miles (17 km) south of the city of providence). The temps at the airport are about the warmest temps in our area. Most suburbs are a few degrees F colder. We average about 0.9 meters of snow per season and receive about 4" (10.1 cm) of precipitation per month. The lowest temp in the past 3 seasons at my house has been (-8.5F) (-22.5C).
