Posted by Paul Ont 5a on December 28, 2006, 5:29 pm I'll start with most damaged: Agave montana: 2 of 5 in wet locations are dead (rot) 5/5 with moisture protection are fine. Agave chrysantha: 1/1 in wet location rotted. All with moisture protection are fine. Agave hardardiana: 1/2 in wet location rotted. All with moisture protection are fine. Yucca brevifolia: 1/5 in wet garden rotted. Others look good but may be toast. 1/1 with moisture protection is fine (4th winter). Yucca elata: 2/2 transplants in wet location are fine. 2/2 with moisture protection are fine. Yucca baccata: Transplant in wet bed may be rotting. 1/1 with protect is fine. Yucca thompsoniana (aka rostrata v. thompsonia): 1/1 in wet bed is fine. Agave parryi: 1/1 with moisture protect is fine. Agave lechugilla: 2/2 with moisture protection are fine. I think that's it... All the cacti seem fine except a few E. triglochidiatus in the wet garden which may be rotting... Cheers,
Hey all, I've just finished checking my plants and wanted to give my findings for interest sake!
Minimum temp: -14/-15C (5 or 6 f). VERY wet fall/ealry winter. One cold outbreak, sub freezing most nights.
Agave americana, always plant the suckers from my big plant as indicators of the weather. All 3 are dead from cold/wet!
Paul
