As an aside - one to look out for, if you don't have any coing along from seed maybe now would be a time to start. Yucca periculosa. Similar to filifera but, when older, much much neater. It has upright or inclined inflorescences, rather than droopy ones, and is the plant that kind of takes over from filifera once you get further south around Puebla. I got my eyes tuned into them a little better this trip, started to catch the detail of the different yuccas we were looking at a bit more. Still confusing as hell, though.
I think filifera grow pretty fast, so a 10ft one is probably only 8-10 yrs old. We we talking with a guy at one of the botanical gardens in Mexico and he said their 20ft multi-branched plants were only 15 yrs old!
