ian, i generally follow your practice of potting up, utilizing as much as possible when transplanting/dividing a plant. i dont really "take" very many cacti cuttings as they seem to occur. many opuntias get bumped,brushed by my pyrenees, hailstones last summer.... so most of my "cuttings" are accidental
in nature. they are then given away or planted out somewhere when rooted and big enough.has went from very cold to really warm here....almost 70F today!
