hello, everybody! hope all is well, have been too busy to post but have been checking in. have just aquired 4 large, rather flat resin urns (faux concrete) and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what species of agave to use? urns are approx. 48 in. wide, about 24 in. deep at the center point. they are on a pedestal so rootball will be subjected to pretty much prevailing air temps., so am taking that into account. they will be in totally full sun, will be a very well drained sandy/gravelly mix. will be exposed to full winter and spring winds. plan to protect the little agaves the first few winters during really cold weather until they have sized up.am leaning toward a. ovatifolia (whale`s tongue) for the really wide beautiful blue leaves. am in zone 7B. any suggestions? am going to use small-growing cacti and hardy succulents, perhaps some mini-grasses with them in the urns. have any of you grown agave in containers outside fully exposed to weather? urns will be too heavy to move.any comments or suggestions are welcome! thanks!!!
