Hi jim,
Thanks for the compliment,
one Question also to you, which Waldorf you live?
In Maryland ?
I ask because approx. 120km far from me it gives
also a town which is called Waldorf and md can also
mean in German Mittel Deutschland
About your question, the last two winters we had -14°C
and approx 3 till 4 weeks permanent frost.
3 Years before we had max. temp. -22,7 "C here and 7 weeks permanent frost.
The big rostrata stay the first winter outside and I dont protect them.
But I have a protection which I can construct speedily if the temperature will fallen down till -20°C
I think you mean the Trachycarpus fortunei named in English windmill palm
I protect this palm only with a foil and this palm stays more than 5 Years there, before it grows 7 years into my parents garden.
Cheers,
Sascha - Steinau
