Yes, that's what I was thinking too - that's why I posted the question. Seems like some of the best succulents for walls are in genera like Aloe, Echeveria and Aeonium.
Still we have quite a few hardies among Lewisia, Claytonia, Dudleya, Sedum, Sempervivum, Orostachys, Jovibarba and Agave. Perhaps if these are combined with multiple plants of some of the hardiest Aloes, Echeverias, and appropriate cacti, the total effect could still be impressive.
