Pediocactus nigrispinus began blooming in my yard on Friday. I suspect the natural populations up north in Kittitas/Grant Counties at higher altitudes will be blooming a bit later, but the next two weekends are probably a good bet if you're looking to make a road trip. It's looking good now mixed with the bitterroot and globe mallow in the yard.
