I'm of the belief that no one can be forced to do anything (so long as you are being a law-abiding citizen) they do not wish to do. If a doctor (or doctors) believes he is not getting paid enough, he can choose to strike if he wants (all the while not getting paid since he's not working). I don't think the open doctor position would be open very long. And theoretically if doctors (or any profession for that matter) were really being underpaid in relation to the task that they perform and how specialized they are for the job (i.e. are they the only one who can do that job?), they they have all the right to strike and whoever is paying them (the citizens?) would realize that they need to pay more. Now, I'm not talking about striking out of greed, because if that was the case I'm under the belief that the free market would quickly take care of that with someone qualified filling the position for what he was originally getting paid.
The bottom line is, if a doctor chooses to not perform a certain task because it's against his beliefs then he's welcome to refuse. However, he brings this upon himself, so even though he can strike (due to a loss of income from refusing patients), it wouldn't be in his best interest because I believe someone else would be willing to fill his position who didn't have objections to the tasks in question. He can flip burgers if he wants, he can be assured that he wont run into similar situations there.
I believe doctors get paid according to what they do. If they choose not do do certain things, they wont get paid as such.
We've sorta gone off topic now...
