Wow. Rick, I'd say you should be careful.
Some instructors just tear out the extra pages and toss them in the trash. So they'd only read the 1st pages that are within the limit.
There is a reason that they limit the page number. If you go over, you're probably writing too much, maybe some contents are not as relevant, maybe some are too verbose, or maybe you're trying to cover too much information in 7 pages.
One of my former writing class TA said to me once when I asked for her suggestion, "That'd be a 30-page essay, not a 5-page essay." In other words, you should consider what you are writing; don't try to fit too much information in your page limit. All you have to do is answer the prompt, you know. If other people can do it, and if they limit the page number and they are all reasonable instructors, you should be able to do it. Just cut down some verbose areas and less relevant paragraphs/sentences. Personally, I have had to cut down my essays for almost every single paper, not just for this class.
