Has anyone managed to read the article on AIG? It's in the business ethics section on the web page. I am really very interested to hear your comments. My main question is--was anything unethical done here? Nothing AIG did was illegal, BTW. As we now know, a lot of the guarantees the company gave on various securities were--to put it mildly--unwise. But is it fair to call taking on too much risk "unethical"?
I am really interested to hear your responses.
Coming soon: an article on the performance of individual banks and the pay/bonus packages the respective executives received. Should they be made to return their bonuses if the profits on which the bonuses were based were "illusory" and overwhelmed by the losses of subsequent years?
