I found the article rather interesting as it put into perspective the current financial crisis at hand. However, sarcasm and humor aside (concerning the writing style of the author) I believe that the Friedman v Almeder approach of business is taken out further by the current circumstances. In fact, I saw this case in a greater scale, bringing in the concept of internationalism. Does in fact, going global, require more of a corporation to practice internal ethical control in terms of its practices? Should international laws be more restrictive as decisions made at this scale because of the result in potentially greater consequences? Why should America be responsible for Europe (in a round about sense,); sure modern capitalism requires of us to "take care of each other"(or does it?) because our markets are interrelated? With greater power, comes greater responsibilities - [should not apply only to Spider-man, but companies as well. ]
