A company's goal, in the business world is not to only maximize profit. I have worked with 3 different business owners, taken many classes and Rady business school, and own my own business. I can tell you that in reality, business's goals are not only to gain profit, but provide jobs for people, and make the world a better place some how. If they would accept a greater profit while taking advantage of someone else, that would be considered unethical. The ethical thing to do here is make working conditions better for their employees while accepting a lower profit because then they can advertise that about their business. If they advertise that they have better working conditions than their competitors, they could actually gain more buyers this way and gain more of a profit.
