It's taken me 3 years and 6 months to do it and the total, with interest, came in at just under $16,000. It would have been done a little sooner but I put Golda's thyroid treatment on the same card ...and that set me back about 3 months. And of course, it would have been paid a lot sooner if Ian had actually kept his word and paid half. I could only nag about 30% out of him.
*sigh* Nickie's been dead for two years and two months. I don't recommend anyone putting that kind of money into saving a dog, although I read about people who do it all the time. After Nickie died and the bill remained, I could not help but question the situation. Eventually it became kind of sadly humorous. As in, I can't take a vacation, I have to pay for a dead dog.
I'm tired of second guessing myself on this one. My main advice would be to never trust your spouse if he/she is ever sitting in the emergency room and promises to pay half. It's a lie that renews itself and smacks a person around each month when it comes time to pay the bill. In the end, the situation over a promise broken monthly has proven to be more painful than poor Nickie's troubles or even the actual expense of it all.
So aside from the bitterness and resentment I feel toward my husband, it's all good and I'm on to paying off the minivan which I probably shouldn't have bought quite so soon. Hopefully my job will remain, but if not, at least I have one less payment to worry about now.
