We already used up our leeway. We lost N'TUTT the outside kitty last October, Olivia in November, and about the time Max was getting sick we threw caution to the wind and adopted a purebred Siamese girl, Ripley. Then, after Max had died and before we had Ripley out of the master bath where she was recovering from her difficult spay, we took in Sibble, cat left by idiot neighbor. Now we are still raising the surviving orphan from under the house and we will keep her.
There really is nothing left to rationalize. We are back where we started and lord only knows about next year. In the meantime, the social structure of the cats is already unsettled a bit. Yes, things will work out eventually but ... enough is probably enough. We've got to decide by next Friday. Maybe I'll just vet the two kittens and post an ad, asking whoever adopts them to contribute to the cost of the surgery.
