Winston was my "survivor" pup. He was the pup that was not thriving despite supplementation and had to be bottled. He was adopted at 8 weeks after he had his first sets of shots to a friend of my son's mother. Rocky was named after the Philadelphia Champion - as in the Movie. Despite being extremely tiny and not growing, he always fought the most for food and never showed any signs of being weak - even though he was only 2 pounds at 4 weeks of age! We got some assistance from Shannon (THANK YOU SHANNON, ERIN AND SARA FOR HELPING HIM) who bottled him around the clock while I took care of the rest of the litter and Momma who got mastitis and had to have surgery. We also had a surrogate here to feed the rest of the litter, but she didn't love them, just fed them.
Rocky surely was a little prize fighter - he went from 12.4 ounces at 2 1/2 weeks old (less than his birth weight!) to 2 pounds 9 ounces at 4 weeks old while staying with Shannon and her family. He came back here when I was able to take over the feeds myself and lived in a doll crib for two weeks donated to me by Sara! By the time he was 6 weeks old, he rejoined his brothers and sisters and was eating only dry kibble and while he wanted the bottles still, we just substituted those for attention. He's now just a little bit smaller than his sister here when he visited today and I was so pleased on how well he was doing that I decided to share his story.
It was a "Rocky" road, but here he is, thriving and happy (always was a happy puppy). He's healthy and no more weight issues. This is one pup that I'm glad I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and feed. He's also made his new family quite proud!
Here are some of my favorite pix. The picture with the coke can was to show how small he was - he was five weeks old in that photo

Lots of pix I know - but thanks for letting me share
