i work on a switchboard at a large hospital, and i need to vent about some of the stupid ass things managers are overpaid to come up with. For the past 3 years there has been a camaraderie
with the people on my shift. but lately the shit has just hit the fan. now they want to have a so-called lead operator that comes in to watch us like children and do nothing else except...sleep the entire shift. another stupid ass idea was to have 1 operator answer all paging calls the entire night while the other 2/3 operators don't do a damn thing except watch tv/play internet games, make personal calls or sleep . but these are the stupid ass ideas managers are paid to sit on their asses in their cushie offices, doodling on the custom note pads all day long and come up with. this has created hostility among co-workers that used to be friends and worked well together. well...they killed that. the troll who runs this office should be fired. she claims that she has an open door policy should anyone have complaints. the catch is that the door is only open until you approach it then it gets slammed shut in your face.
the butt-kissing supvr has her nose so far up managements ass all she sees is night, and the only male in this office gets away with bloody freaking murder. he comes in when he wants to, leaves out of the office to wander about for several hrs, and never takes more than 5 calls in 8 hrs, and takes no callswhen he works the weekend, because he sleeps the entire shift if not watching internet tv. i used to like my job alot, but lately it sucks big time because of all the stupid crap going on. and i guess the ice cream on the cake of my day is...that management knows all this that is going on, but chooses to ignore it because bringing it to light could cause problems for them
. just to bring this to a head...when someone did notify the ceo of the hospital about this crap all hell broke loose, because management had to come up with some damn good lies to cover their asses on that one
.
i realize that there are decent managers...i have had the opportunity to work with a couple of them. too bad they dont work here.
