Boys and Girls let me enlighten you on why the league will start earlier this year (on 9th August). This has been brought about following requests from clubs involved in the FA Cup competitions.
In previous years when the season starts late into August clubs go into the 1st round of the cup competitions having played only one league match. Clubs felt this was insufficient preparation so they sought the league's co-operation to bring forward the start of the new season.
