Just read all the debate on Bicester...took me half an hour!
As an outsider of the club but as a follower of the Hellenic league I think its sad the situation the club is in. However I think its even sadder some of the comments made by the likes of BSA and Unhappyfan. I find people that hide behind aliases slagging off clubs often have a hidden agenda and these two certainly seem to have some sort of agenda.
Running a football club is very difficult both in the past and even more so in this current climate and unless you have tried personally you won't know how hard it is.
Firstly with regards "Local players", that debate has been around for years now. I doubt many people can name a team that has been successful for a number of years made up of just local players, you would maybe have to go back to the old days when there was no money being paid to players. Secondly to the likes of BSA or Unhappyfan, if you have such knowledge of all these wonderful local players who would play for Bicester for no money at all please post your team from Goalkeeper through to front two and all of your subs?? You also say that having local players would increase crowds, i'm inclined to disagree with that opinion also. Yes you may get a handful of new followers but there is no way that all of a sudden there will be attendances of 150+ at games because they are local players, just look around non league football at these levels in general and crowds aren't that great anymore.
I don't know Nick H at all, never met him and perhaps sometimes he does put things he shouldn't but he certainly seems to care for the club, doesn't hide away and is putting himself in the firing line by working for the club, so he should be shown the respect for that as there seems to be plenty on here griping that haven't got the balls to do so.
With regards Chris Hurley the Manager, he has only just recently come into the job, has no budget to work with and has inherited a struggling team. There is no way on earth he is all of a sudden going to bring in a new team that automatically wins lots of games and they rapidly rise up the table, anyone who thinks that doesn't understand football. With no money, he will have to get the existing players fitter, try and get some confidence in them and try and make bad players into average players and gradually try and find some players with potential and gamble on them and hope that some pay off as they will be unproven. So called proven players 90-95% of the time want wages in this day and age.
All this debate and slagging off on here is not going to help improve Bicester Town FC, if anything those doing the slagging are actually causing more harm than good. Anyone new to the area, be it players or potential sponsors or even helpers may read this and be put off by all the politics so if you truly support Bicester perhaps go along and have a chat with the club as to ways you can help.
Good luck to all at Bicester
201
