Talon, “So… I guess you’re going to do it…”
Ally stands silent, trying to avoid eye contact with her older brother. She looks down at the floor, meekly, as she replies and slowly continues walking.
Ally, “I’m just packing some of my stuff that I never use, just to save space…”
Ally continues to walk toward her room, slowly, but with a definite intention of avoiding conversation.
Talon simply steps up from the couch and walks toward Ally’s room.
Talon, “Ally… it’s a four bed room, three bath, Penthouse, with two people living in it… I know you don’t need more space… c’mon, I’m not stupid. When were you going to tell me?”
Ally turns around, a tear in her eye, as she continues to look at the floor like a scolded child.
Talon frowns slightly and puts a hand on her shoulder. His voice is low and calming…
Talon, “Breathe.. just relax and talk to me…”
Ally looks up and wipes the tears from her eyes as she speaks.
Ally, “I just… don’t think me being here is good for you. You always worry about me and I guess I think that if I moved out then it will help you not worry about me all the time and you can stay focused on wrestling…”
She looks away and says something under her breath…
Ally, “I know it’s what comes first anyways.”
Talon looks at his sister almost irritated, the last barb striking a nerve…
Talon, “What was that?”
Ally looks away quickly, again feeling uncomfortable with the conversation.
Talon, “Ally, I’ve told you from day one, when you asked me to let you move in, that I had to put wrestling first because it’s not just my livelihood and career, it’s my life that’s on the line every night when I go out there… You knew that my life was under a microscope 24/7 because of this career path, and that was something you said you accepted…”
Ally cuts Talon off midsentence, suddenly fiery and letting some of her pent up frustrations out.
Ally, “Logan makes time! He has the same job, the same life… and he makes time!”
Talon is taken back for a literal split second, which triggers a reaction that he cannot prevent as he snaps back…
Talon, “That’s why he’s been stuck in the Spotlight division his entire time in the HWA! It’s about priorities damn it. If he wasn’t trying to get into your pants ever since I won the title last year, maybe he’d be something by now instead of the most loved one time spotlight champion; at least I’ve won a world title.”
Ally’s lip snarls as she steps into her room and begins throwing things into boxes, she begin to vent and rant as she does.
Ally, “You’re in the same boat he’s in Talon, you’re ‘stuck’ in the spotlight division and not doing anything either… you think that running around with that prick Ed is good for your career, he’s not your friend, he’s the same guy he was last year when he was terrorizing me, it’s just that now, you feel so alone in the HWA that you are becoming just like him and you don’t even realize it! You sit there and let him call me a drunk 7 and passed out 8!? IM YOUR SISTER… That’s just not OK…”
Ally continues to let her verbal emotional rage go as she tosses her clothes into large black trash bags.
Ally, “You talk about guys like Butch, Buff, and Fallen, when you’re really just as bad as you say they are… both of you are, you’re just too in love with your own reflection to see it! You are not the same guy who I looked up too when I was in high school… You’re not… ”
Ally catches herself, but a moment too late as she immediately regrets her words. She turns to face her brother, and sees the expression on his face…
Talon is standing in the door way, his mouth open slightly, a bit of shock and vulnerability in his eyes as he takes in the words he has just heard…
Ally, “…I’m…I’m sorry.”
Talon remains silent for a moment, he just stares through his sister and out of her window as he reflects in his head and tries to pull himself back together.
Ally, “That’s not what I meant… I meant…”
Talon cuts her off, a slight edge to his somber tone.
Talon, “I know what you meant… I’ll let you pack… Call me if you need anything.”
Talon begins to walk away as Ally attempts to follow him, she gets to her doorway and turns the corner before speaking.
Ally, “Talon wait… Where are you going?”
Talon doesn’t even turn around as he walks to the front door…
Talon, “Going out…”
Ally, “I’m sorry…. Please come back”
Talon turns and looks at his sister, a new perspective of her in his eyes… Ally’s expression becomes even more distraught as she sees the way he is looking at her, almost the same way she looked at him just moments earlier… She begins to tear up again as he turns back and walks out, closing the door behind him. The camera follows Talon out of the building as he begins to walk down the street. His cellphone buzzes in his pocket moments later. He pulls the blackberry from his pocket and reads the text message he has received… after a few seconds he presses a button on his phone and makes a call as he continues to walk down the street…
Talon, “Hey, Yeah man… I saw it, good stuff… Nope, didn’t watch it, already knew what he was going to say… same old ‘what you said is about you too’ garbage… Na, I’m fine bro, just had a little argument with Ally… yeah, no… those comments didn’t sit to well with her, yeah man, they were out of line, I agree with here there man, what the hell? …you’re good man, I know it wasn’t personal but lay off of her, she’s still my sister. I know, I’m just saying to back off of her, say what you want to him, he’s a grown man, and he’s in the HWA, so he knows what he’s getting into, but Ally’s just like Gabby, she’s innocent here… ok…. Cool. Look, I’m meeting Cox on the 2 later, so if you want to meet up later with Ronnie-Mac and Hollywood then maybe we can talk some strategy for Havoc and get a lift in, Hulk keeps talking trash saying he can out bench me, so we’ll see… haha, yeah man, ok… I’ll call you when I leave the Bronx… yeah I know, na, I’m meeting him at Pelham Parkway… No no, Mace and Wallace is where Allora’s place is at… He’s over near Gun Hill, so he told me Pelham, so I’m going to Pelham… OK, take it easy bro, catch you later…”
Talon hangs up the phone and drops it back into his pocket as he continues to walk across the street
and down to the steps that lead to the subway. Talon goes through, swiping his metro card and then gets onto the uptown 2 train… The train rides for a while as the camera focuses in on Talon who is sitting on one of the many seats on the subway, rehashing the incident in his home earlier… After several stops by the train, Talon looks up and shakes off the argument, deciding to handle it in a better way and simply talking with Ally later… The train arrives at Pelham Parkway and Talon steps off the train onto the subway platform… The camera travels with him down to the street level where he walks into a small diner… Talon walks in and looks around, spotting Detective Cox in the back corner table. Talon smirks and approaches the table as Cox stands up to shake his hand. They both sit down after exchanging pleasantries, Cox waives over to the server to come take their order, as Talon begins to speak.
Talon, “Thanks for meeting with me Cox, I appreciate it. How’s Allora?”
Cox, “She’s good, and it’s not a problem, at least this time it’s not covering up a mass homicide shoot out in Utah.”
Talon lets out a slight laugh as he feels a bit of embarrassment creep in.
Talon, “Yeah that was definitely something else… well the reason I asked to meet with you is, I want you to do some checking into a few things for me…”
Talon reaches into his coat and pulls out a manila envelope and hands it to Cox.
Cox begins to thumb through a few pictures, an application, and a few other documents as Talon continues.
Talon, “The first one is this kid, Kaleb. He goes by Kaleb Cross, but I don’t buy the name, so check off the picture and all the other info, his social is on the form… He’s kinda like an apprentice to me, he wants to learn from me about wrestling and all that… but he’s a little sneaky… just want to know about him before I start letting him into my house and letting him into the circle...”
Cox nods as he looks over Kaleb’s file.
Cox, “and the other one?”
Talon hands him the second envelope before responding.
Talon, “He’s my sister’s new boyfriend… well over a year now, but still… she’s moving in with him, he’s from Scotland, and I just want to make sure he’s on the up… he’s a nice enough guy, but you know how ti goes.”
Cox, “You know that when you investigate a boyfriend, the girlfriend comes up a lot too… You ok with that?”
Talon nods.
Talon, “What do you mean?”
Cox, “a lot of info about the significant other turns up in searches like this, just making sure you don’t mind me looking into your sister’s files as well.”
Talon, “Not a problem with me… it’s what you do, not like you’re going to sell it to Senester or something.”
Cox, “I know, just making sure we get that cleared up before someone sues… haha”
Talon and Cox both laugh for a minute before the server comes over to the table and takes their order…
…to be continued.
