"Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword." (Deuteronomy 13:15)
It’s been a few days since Havoc. In which time Senester has returned to Dark Horse Towers and immediately been injected into a multitude of issues from the ongoing legal troubles of HWA, putting his thoughts together on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad betrayal of his confidences, reflecting back on other Havoc events, and looking ahead at Road to Ruin. At present he has just finished a workout, sweat pouring from him as leans over the ring ropes where the camera pans slightly to the left to the body of some man laying bloodied and being carted off, he doesn’t look back as he exits the ring and heads out of the gym. Minutes later in the East Tower he visits the spa where a soothing bath is waiting, and he finds himself immersed in decadent oils and scents. Soon thereafter an athletic massage, then he’s dressed for the day’s events. In the main lobby of the North Tower news crews are standing by waiting for a press conference. Senester arrives as cameras flash and reporters all rush to get their questions in. He puts his hand up indicating that they all should calm themselves before he speaks.
(Senester): Before I entertain any questions I have a statement to President Ahmadinejad. It would appear that our business arrangements have concluded unfavorably. Amidst the civil unrest of your people you retreated, leaving the HWA to fend for ourselves. As you no doubt have noticed, I protect my assets, and relied upon the resources within my vast network to secure adequate support. In due time you will come to know the weight of your decision to betray me, you have escaped the pandemonium of one evening, but you will not escape me. Now….I will take all other questions.
Senester points to a gentlemen in the second row.
(Reporter): Yes… James Glanz, New York Times. Your next court date is set for early April, from what we are told the prosecution will be delivering their opening arguments and providing the court with key witnesses to support their position on stricter government regulation of televised media. What sort of evidence do you foresee them presenting as they rally for these sanctions?
(Senester): There is no viable evidence that exists to suggest these sanctions be imposed. This entire enterprise is fueled by the insecurity of a small majority in the American populace who wish to manage the viewing habits of their adolescents. Wrestling is blamed for childhood violence and aggression just as are various elements in the video game, music and film industry. It is an age old story…if you don’t want your child watching, then change the channel. If you feel video games are too violent, then buy them. Management begins in the individual home, what is good for the few does not transcend into the good of the many.
He points again to another reporter.
(Reporter): Rick Maese…Washington Post….are you at all concerned that these sanctions will be imposed and that HWA television will virtually become heavily censored?
(Senester): It does not concern me one bit. The prosecution is preparing what evidence and lining up whichever witnesses they think will persuade the courts to rule in their favor but when will be greeted with cold, hard, irrefutable truth, of which there is no defense, and HWA will prevail.
To the side is a woman with her arm raised and Senester points to her.
Good evening sir…Martha Brannigan…Miami Herald… Just over a week ago now at HWA’s Havoc you did two rather unexpected things…exceptionally unexpected rather. One…you captured your first championship in HWA in many, many, years, and more importantly you have possibly ended the career of Buff Bridges. What brought this about?
(Senester): Necessity, and I’ve heard no complaints about it. The championship is irrelevant, it merely came with the mission at hand. That mission being to provide Buff Bridges with the unadulterated fact that his career, as he knew, as his peers knew it, and as the fans knew it had run its course. He has done more in this sport than most can dream, so no one weeps for Buff Bridges. Quite frankly, no one cared about Bridges, and most who even mildly respected him have no grief in absence. It is only fitting that the end of his career is made with his maker.
(Martha Brannigan): Was that level of violence necessary though? These are the exact kinds of things that will face HWA in court.
(Senester): Sometimes you have to burn your grass for your lawn to revitalize itself. What I did was necessary, and when you look at the new landscape of the HWA, when you see the weak being weeded out of that lawn, when you see the dandelion weeds who think they smell of rose, then a little gardening is in order. For all the Buff Bridges, the Bryan Deas’, Ronnie McNeil’s and Eddie Phoenix’s, for each Butch Parker or Talon Wilkinson, for every man and woman who thinks themselves greater than I dictate them to be, you too are bud blades of grass. You grow when I command you to grow, you turn yellow and dry up when I wish you to, and ultimately you burn when I am done looking at you.
He points again to another reporter.
(Reporter): Jason Meisner, Chicago Tribune…since becoming All Star Champion you have been engaged by Eddie Phoenix, who in turn continues to be target by AC James. Last night HWA.com announced the Triple-Threat scheduled for Road to Ruin between the three of you…what are your expectations for the match.
(Senester): I expect the fans to enjoy both the build-up and the match itself, and their disappointment when I retain the All Star Championship. Let me assure you of one thing. I do not need the title, nor any other. It is in my possession at this time because it needs to be…nothing more. At Road to Ruin Mr. Phoenix who fancies himself and the rest of his NWO brethren…outlaws, I will as I’ve said before put things in perspective for him. As for AC James…well he is the Loose Cannon, Havoc itself was a reminder for those who may have forgotten. I am equally prepared to dispatch him as well. Nothing, and no one will stand in my way, and if Mr. Phoenix or Mr. James thinks they present something to contrary then I’m afraid they will find themselves woefully disappointed in their capabilities. I’ll take one more question…
(Reporter): Good afternoon…Duke Helfand…Los Angeles Times. You and Ronnie McNeil had begun a brief “feud” as you call it, but it never seemed to manifest itself in the ring, however, you seemed done with him once he returned the sunstone you claimed was stolen. Can you fill us in on what happened there?
(Senester): McNeil is an Icarus. It is that simple. An analogy for a many men before him whose wingspan is much smaller in width than they imagine, whose fortitude is far less than their perfect imaginations. I don’t need to focus my attentions on McNeil. He is the moth willingly committing suicide in my flame. He will come to me. McNeil believes he has been, and is a targeted, held-back man. For everything wrong in his career he has a finger to point for it, and no mirror to see the reflection of truth cast in it. I will be that mirror. Everything he claims now to have been put through, I can make it manifest. I can unfold unspeakable devastation upon his entire career. The next rose you see from McNeil can be on the grave of his career, I need only snap my fingers and make it so. That will be all for now.
The cameras continue to flash as Senester makes his way out of the lobby and back towards the elevators, security detail in tow. He looks to his chief officer.
(Senester): Send a message to Shakir…tell him we must speak in private, we have something of the utmost importance to discuss. He is to remain here overnight and we shall speak in the morning.
(Chief Officer): Right away, my lord!
Senester looks at his watch and steps into the elevator, ascending dozens of floors up to his office as the scene fades to black.
