8:23am – Off Camera
*Maniac sits quietly at a small table to the side of his hotel room. Wearing a pair of black shorts and a white tank top, he sips at a cup of coffee, listening absently to the sound of the shower running in the bathroom. They had arrived in Portland, Oregon the previous night, wasting no time in checking into a motel and catching up on some much needed rest. Now, with Road to Ruin mere days away, the time for rest has come to an end. The steady hum of the shower cuts off, and soon Paige steps out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel. Crossing the room, she leans in to kiss Maniac on the cheek before sitting across from his at the table.*
Paige: Are you ready?
*Maniac smiles, giving a short nod.*
Maniac: Yeah. I've got to get used to the waiting around again. I'm anxious to get in the ring.
Paige: It'll come. You're still getting back into the mix. You've got to be patient.
*Maniac chuckles.*
Maniac: That's the part I've always hated.
*Paige smiles, standing up and disappearing into the bathroom to dress, leaving Maniac alone at the table to ponder the events of the coming Pay per view...*

Hello, HWA fans. Yes, I know. This isn't exactly my usual style. However, with Road to Ruin just a few days away and little time to spare, I've opted to take a page from the book of a good friend of mine. Don't worry, though. After I'm finished with Bryan Deas, all of you can look forward to seeing and hearing from me again in the same style you all know and love by now. I'm getting ahead of myself, though, as I've got just a little more to say regarding my next match. Let's get on with it, shall we? In just a few days, I will step into the ring once again and marvel the masses packed into the arena and watching at home in THE most violent match in professional wrestling today. For months now, Bryan Deas and I have been on a path of destruction and it all culminates at Road to Ruin. Now, it's time to move on and continue along the path to championship gold. At Road to Ruin in the Asylum, that path lies through Bryan Deas, a relic of a time long since passed. As promised, the Asylum will result in a glorious clash of Old versus New, yet it goes deeper than that. I've spoken before of lessons being learned. Sadly, even after all of his years in this sport of ours, it seems that Bryan Deas hasn't learned his lessons very well. Based on his overly opinionated promos, it seems more than obvious that he has spent a countless amount of time simply sitting back and watching the current state of wrestling unfold. How many times has he commented on his hatred for the direction his career in this sport has taken? How many more times will we be forced to hear about it? My guess...several. You see, for a man who's no doubt watched this entire scene unfold, he's proven that he has little understanding of the thing he so hates. All things must come to an end. Every age must pass. Night must always give way to daylight. That's the natural order of things. Sadly, this is a concept that poor Bryan Deas simply can't grasp. His day has passed, and now a new era has arisen, and is thriving. It's an era in which men like Bryan Deas can still compete and be successful, but in order to do so, their mindset must change. The simple fact of the matter is that times have changed, and so has this business. Like it or not, it will never be the same again. By refusing to let go of the past and move forward, Bryan Deas has done nothing but cripple himself, allowing himself to be left in the dust as this business and its competitors move on. As a direct result of that, he shares the same downfall of those who I have left beaten and bloodied. All he's talked about it what it took to be popular and be a big draw during “his day”. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but being popular and being a draw means that you directly bring more fans to the sport, and to the events, right? So what Bryan's been telling me for the last few months is that he, like so many others, is still concerned only with drawing a paycheck. He wants to come to the ring, perform the same headlocks and DDTs he's walked through for years, and he wants the fans to adore him for it so they'll keep his checks coming in. Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees the irony in this scenario. To be honest, this entire fiasco has Bryan reminding me very much of the so-called “Master of Horror” Wes Craven around ten years ago. Don't follow me? Let me explain. I think by now everyone knows who Freddy Krueger is. I think it's also well-known that the original Nightmare on Elm Street was Wes Craven's story. When the first film was made, he intended it to be a stand-alone picture, and wasn't involved with any of the proceeding five films, except for submitting the rough draft for the third film, which was then altered and polished by two hired writers. During that time, he was throwing incredible fits with New Line Pictures, eventually suing in order to receive royalties for the other films, which he had no part of. Yet the concept was his, and he felt that he deserved a piece of the monetary pie. So what does that have to do with Bryan Deas? I think by now, it's obvious. Wes Craven absolutely hated the Nightmare franchise. His original idea was a stand-alone film, and he basically told the company to piss off when they approached him about a sequel. However, despite his sheer loathing of what had happened to his concept, he still expected to be paid for it. Likewise, Bryan Deas has been more than vocal about his hatred of the state of his career in wrestling, yet he still comes out to the ring and performs, and he expects to be paid for doing so, despite the loathing he feels for what has become of the concept of this sport. Sadly, Wes Craven's answer was to make the film “Wes Craven's New Nightmare”, effectively shitting all over the franchise which had made him a name in Hollywood to begin with. Now, Bryan goes around verbally shitting all over the business that made him a name in the first place, and which keeps him paid. I've said this many times, and I'm certain I'll say it many more. I'm an honest man, almost brutally so. Frankly, I have no respect for a man who bites the hand that feeds him. That's just something you don't do. Not to worry, however. In a few days time, Bryan Deas will step into the Asylum with the Human Horror Reel, and he will be another victim of the Asylum...of my wrath. Until that time, there is nothing to do but sit and wait. Soon enough, I will have Bryan Deas in the ring, and no number of headlocks, leg drops, or DDTs are going to help him. At Road to Ruin, perhaps Bryan Deas will finally see the error of his ways. Until then, my friends...Violence is GOLDEN!!!!!!
