As the reporters surround them, the brothers halt. Rolling his eyes as he vents a sigh of frustration, Heinrich turns side on, and with his left hand, pushes his elder brother to the fore.
(Heinrich): Your turn to deal with them.
Hans smirks at the tone of his brother's voice, before giving him a sympathetic nod, as he raises his hands up for calm and he takes several steps forward towards the reporters.
(Hans): As you can tell from the bruising around my brother's nose, and his sunny disposition right now, he's not really in the mood for much talk. So, we'll take a few questions, but when my watch says its 11 o'clock, we're out of here.
The assorted reporters and cameras jostle for position as flash photography illuminates both brothers.
(Hans): Right, ladies first then.
He gestures at the closest female reporter to him, who quickly brings up her microphone to begin her question.
(Sarah Franks): Sarah Franks, World Wrestling Magazine. First off Hans, congratulations on retaining your World title…
He nods his head in appreciation of her words.
(Hans): Thank you.
(Sarah Franks): … Secondly, how was it for you, at the end, having come through against William Draconis, Shakir and then Talon Wilkinson? What were you feeling?
(Hans): Erm…
He rubs the nape of his neck with his left hand as he ponders his response momentarily.
(Hans): Pleased at the outcome, obviously. It was a gruelling event, against some excellent opposition, and I had to dig deep… so to come through still holding my World title means a lot to me. I gave, and received a lot in that ring, and I was close to running on empty by the time I finally got the last pinfall that I needed over Talon, so there was a healthy measure of relief as well when the bell rang for the third time.
(Sarah Franks): Lastly, do you have any words for your opponents? I'm sure you're well aware of what happened with Talon Wilkinson earlier on in the event, would you care to comment?
Hans' head shakes from side to side slowly, a somewhat reticent expression forming on his face as he responds carefully.
(Hans): Right now, given that I still haven't had a chance to sit down and watch what actually happened, I'm not going to comment on that. What I will say though, is well done for the part he played in our match. He was the perfect foil for me to overcome, and it's a victory that I'll look back on fondly, for sure. He pushed me, and that he didn't find me wanting is no disrespect to him.
He jerks his head in his brother's direction.
(Hans): I think I speak for the two of us when I say that I was pleasantly surprised to find that he stuck to his word, and that I managed to finally get in some matches free of interference as well.
Behind him, Heinrich snorts with amusement, only to then stifle a groan at the flaring pain in his broken nose. He brushes away Hans' concerned look with a wave of his hand, gesturing at him to continue.
Taking a deep breath, Hans obliges, pointing at a reporter standing next to Sarah.
(Hans): Next question then.
(Mark Hind): Mark Hind, Wrestling Monthly. How's your brother Hans? Will he be able to compete at this upcoming Havoc?
Hans' head moves around to fix on his brother
(Hans): You want to take this?
With a resigned groan escaping his throat, Heinrich steps forward to stand beside his brother.
(Heinrich): I was good enough to put a stop to anyone wanting to interfere with my brother's matches if it came to it…
He wrinkles his face up; uncomfortable with the pain in his nose, as well as the effect it has on his voice.
(Heinrich): … and I'll be able to compete at Havoc. I've had broken noses before, and I doubt that the jabs I'll be getting in the next few days will cause me too much concern either.
His hand creeps upwards towards his nose subconsciously, before he snaps it down by his side.
(Heinrich): Trust me, nothing is going to come between me, and the opportunity to ram the heel of my boot into Merlyn’s face. That dirty schweinhund won’t be biting anyone for a long time…
He trails off ominously, as he takes a step backwards, signalling that he’s finished his answer.
Hans gestures at another reporter.
(Hans): Ok, what’s your question?
(Tom Wright) Tom Wright, CNN. Do you happen to know the identity of the guest referee for your match next week?
Both brothers share a knowing smile, before returning their attention back to the reporters.
(Hans): We both do. But… We wouldn’t want to deprive Butch of the pleasure of announcing just who he’s got to do it however, so that’s all we’ll say on this for now …
(Tom Wright): Will the World Title Lottery return after this coming Havoc?
(Hans): That’s the plan, yes.
(Tom Wright): Do you plan on having similar sets of matches in future? Possibly even a three-way?
(Hans): You can rule the three-way idea out straight away Tom. I’m only ever going to be defending my title in a one-on-one situation…
He smirks with amusement.
(Hans): … interference aside. I can see myself speaking to management about doing something similar to what happened tonight again though. Watch this space.
Hans points to another reporter, who needs little heeding.
(Dominic Reid): Dominic Reid, Fox News. Is your victory over Talon Wilkinson, and Butch Parker’s win over Ronnie McNeil a good omen going into this Havoc and the 8 man tag match?
(Hans): I guess that’s one way to look at it. By the same token though, it surely would encourage them to go one better as well, no? One on one win’s over your opponents are all good and well, but in an 8 man tag match…
He shakes his head from side to side in emphasis.
(Hans): … it doesn’t mean a thing.
Heinrich leans forward, butting in.
(Heinrich): I’m fired up for it, as is Logan. Payback. They won’t know what hit them… and neither will those redneck dummkopfs in the Sons of Anarchy if they actually dare to try something at the end of the show…
Hans places an arm around his brother’s shoulder.
(Hans): Exactly Dominic. We’re up for it, we know what we’re capable of, we know what they’re capable of, we’re confident in getting the win.
(Dominic Reid): Do either of you have anything to say about the sudden reappearance of Maniac’s brother; Freakshow?
A confused expression flourishes over the two brother’s faces simultaneously, as they look between one another.
(Heinrich): Isn’t he dead?
(Hans): I’m sure he is… it happened on air years ago, I’m sure of it…
They shrug, before looking back at the reporter.
(Hans): No comment.
He glances down at his watch.
(Hans): Anyway…
He scans the reporters, before jabbing his finger at one.
(Hans): You. One final question please.
(Tanya Black): Tanya Black, Pro-Wrestling News. I hear that there’s to be an investigation into the arson attacks on both yours, and Butch Parker’s rental cars. Is there anything you’d like to say on the matter?
(Hans): Let’s face it Tanya, we all know who’s responsible for it. The CCTV footage will back us up once the appropriate people have done their work in going over it.
(Heinrich): We’re more annoyed that we weren’t able to help out Logan, and stop yet another cowardly attack by the NWO. What’s the loss of a deposit on a rental car compared to that?
(Hans): And that’s all we’ve got time for. We’ve got a flight to catch, I’m sure you all understand…
The scene slowly fades to black as the two brother’s make their way through the reporters, and towards the waiting car.
