Panning out, the man assaulting the punch bag comes into view…
Heinrich von Richtoven; the HWA All-Star champion.
Spotting the camera, he finishes up with a final flurry, topped off with his trademark “Herzensbrecher”. Catching the bag as it swings back from the violence of the kick, he allows it to settle, before rounding on the camera, making his way across the ring, and bracing himself against the ropes, looking straight at the lens.
(Heinrich): That little display back there…
He thumbs a gesture at the punch bag behind him in emphasis.
(Heinrich): That wasn’t just for your benefit Draconis. No, it was for everyone on the rosters. Yes, I’ve been quiet… when you’re in discussions about your contract, things like promos fall to the back of the queue pretty quick, but that doesn’t mean my in-ring skills are now suddenly lacking.
Just like your General Lee is a symbol for whatever rebellious values you hold dear… or whatever… my little display there was one of preparedness. I’m ready for this match we’ve got at ‘Fatality’. I’m more than ready in fact. ‘Fatality’ could happen right now as far as I’m concerned, I’m ready for it.
Why? Because this match is the first match I get in defence of my ‘All-Star’ belt one-on-one. No gimmicks, no stipulations, no third wheel…
I’ve shown that I can handle one of the most underhanded and sneaky little bast*rds that the HWA’s got, as well as probably the best brawler that the HWA’s seen in a good decade; together. Mix it up with them, take the hits and then take the win.
That was my baptism of fire if you will. Now I have to show what I can do when it comes down to one challenger, going for glory against me and my belt.
I’ve fought long and hard to get where I am right now Draconis; I’ve graced the headline matches several times, but not when I myself, have had my own title on the line. I had my two minutes of fame with the Spotlight title, and if I’m honest, thought that things had, yet again, conspired against me when I came up against Eddie in a unification match.
But no, I fought. Yes, Maniac injecting Eddie with god-knows what played a crucial part in me getting my title, but I can think of few others who’d have gone the distance up until that point, and then had it in them to go one step further and seal the win. Likewise, I went the distance over your erstwhile partner; Fallen, when I beat him for the Spotlight in the first place.
Not only have I got that to spur me on Draconis, but I’ve got the knowledge that although I’ve beaten some of the best in that ring, I’m seemingly cursed with the title matches. Things that are out of my control seem to happen with alarming frequency; interference left right and centre. More often than not, to my detriment, but of late, to my benefit.
That’s what you’d best be hoping for Draconis, because one-on-one, you’re mine. We’ve faced off before in tag matches, and I know what I’ve got to do in order to take you down. Your actions last week against Fallen will no doubt bring him down ringside at somepoint, so along with watching me, you’ll be having to watch your back. It won’t take much for either me, or him, to take you down for the three count should that happen, don’t try to even lie about that.
I’ve got it all to prove, yet again. A few months ago, I’d have railed at that thought crossing my mind. But now, I accept it. I’ve gotten where I am because of my mentality; it’s me against the world. It’s not quite that bad at ‘Fatality’, it’s just me against you…
But on the other shoe, that’s bad for you.
I’m coming for you Draconis. Are you ready?
The scene fades out to black.
